Information about volunteering at SCCO in Cambodia

We aren't a very large organization and thus don't have standard volunteering programs ready. This does however not mean that we are not open to volunteers, on the contrary; you are very welcome! We are happy to hear which expertise you have that can come in handy, what your passions and hobbies are, and how you can leverage your strengths and capabilities to enhance our programs. We expect a very pro-active attitude of the volunteer. Based on your inputs, we can determine which program will fit you well and discuss the possibilities with you.

We are happy to give you some ideas on potential projects:

  • English tutor for our high school students
  • Coaching in management and organization skills for the community development officer and director
  • Organizing extra-curricular activities in our classroom in Andong (such as sports and games, painting, educational games, etc.)
  • Assisting the education coordinator with the English lessons at the residential child care center
  • Handy-man building projects (e.g. painting the school, renovating houses in Andong, etc.)

Besides a pro-active attitude, we expect respect and understanding for other cultures and some flexibility from our volunteers. It is important to know that it will be a real Cambodian experience, wherein the working conditions (especially in Andong) are not always optimal. At the same time, we are 100% sure that this is an unique opportunity in which you can directly contribute to a better future of Cambodian children and their families. Your stay will -no doubt- be a very valuable and memorable experience.
